Privacy Policy

Budget · Last updated: June 2026

The short version: Budget doesn't collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Your financial information never leaves your Mac.

What data the app uses

Budget works with financial data that you bring to it:

  • Bank transaction data — imported manually by you from CSV files exported by your bank. The app reads and stores this data locally; it is never transmitted anywhere.
  • Budget and category data — everything you enter into the app (categories, monthly allocations, notes) is stored locally on your device.

Budget does not access your location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or any other device capability. It makes no network requests.

Where your data goes

Nowhere. All data is stored on your Mac using SwiftData (local on-device storage). No server receives your data. There are no third-party SDKs, no analytics services, and no account system of any kind.

Data retention and deletion

Your data lives in the app's local storage for as long as you keep the app installed. Deleting the app removes all associated data. You can also delete individual transactions, categories, or accounts from within the app at any time.

Children's privacy

Budget does not collect data from anyone. There are no data collection mechanisms in the app.

Changes to this policy
