Privacy Policy

Fogbound · Last updated: June 2026

The short version: Fogbound doesn't collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

What data the app uses

Fogbound accesses two types of data from your device:

  • Location data — used to determine which map tiles you've visited and to update the fog overlay in real time.
  • Photo library metadata — optionally used, only if you choose to import your photo locations. The app reads the GPS coordinates embedded in your photos to pre-populate your explored map.

Where your data goes

Nowhere. All data is stored locally on your device using standard system storage. Neither your location history, your tile grid, nor any photo metadata is ever transmitted to any server, third party, or developer system.

Fogbound has no backend, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. There is no account system. No network requests are made.

Data retention and deletion

Your exploration data is stored in the app's local storage for as long as you keep the app installed. Deleting the app removes all associated data from your device. You can also clear your exploration history from within the app at any time.

Children's privacy

Fogbound does not knowingly collect any data from anyone — children or adults. The app has no data collection mechanisms.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
